This year marks the 12th anniversary of World Down Syndrome Day. This year the focus is on encouraging people with Down Syndrome and their advocates to “speak up, be heard and influence government policy and action, to be fully included in the community”.
Down Syndrome International wants you to post photos, messages, quotes or anyway you choose to show the world how people with Down Syndrome participate in the community alongside everyone else. You can use the hashtag #MyVoiceMyCommunity #WDSD17 #lotsofsocks
In addition, Down Right Cute is spreading the message and encouraging everyone to ROCK YOUR SOCKS to show your support for individual rights, respect, and acceptance for those who have Down Syndrome by wearing mis-matched socks. Anyone can participate! Randomly pull out two socks from your sock drawer and wear them. Whether they’re colorful, striped or zebra print, it doesn’t matter-as long as you’re making a statement. If anyone asks, you can talk about how you support the inclusiveness of those with Down Syndrome in your community. Post a pic of your crazy socks with the hastags #WDSD17 #IheartT21
You don’t have to wait until March 21, 2017 to post your crazy socks in support of Down Syndrome. Show your support now by posting a pic and sharing
